Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Beam Me Up Bundle UK Buyer Guide: Is It Worth £35 More Than the Standard Bundle?

Boostermage Editorial6 min read

The extra money buys a different opening experience, rather than more packs. The Star Trek Beam Me Up Bundle starts at £85.00 in available UK listings, against £49.99 for the standard Bundle. That makes the current premium £35.01[3]. Our judgement: choose the standard box for a modest introduction to the set; pay more only if the schematic promos and Collector Booster are things you already want.

With Wizards confirming a November 13 release, this is still a preorder decision[1]. The useful question before committing is precisely what disappears, and what arrives, when you move up a tier. Beam Me Up has eight Play Boosters and one Collector Booster; the regular Bundle has nine Play Boosters. Both contain nine booster packs in total, but their contents and purposes differ. Counting the premium box as nine Play Boosters plus an upgrade would overstate what the extra money buys.

One fewer Play Booster, two schematic promos

Wizards describes the Beam Me Up package as including exclusive ship schematics and full-art Away Team lands. Its collecting guide specifies two of eight traditional foil schematic promo cards[1][2]. That is the clearest reason to consider this particular box. Someone who enjoys the look of starship plans has a tangible distinction to evaluate, beyond the broad promise of premium cards in a random booster.

Two of eight does not mean a complete schematic collection, or a choice of two favourite ships. If your interest is a particular spacecraft, inspect the available card images before ordering and decide whether you would still enjoy the purchase with different promos. Buying a sealed box to obtain one specific illustration leaves the buying decision dependent on an outcome you cannot select. Waiting to compare individual cards after release is a more direct route for that buyer.

The standard Bundle already supplies the practical extras: basic lands, including foil and full-art versions, an oversized Spindown life counter, a card box and an alternate-art traditional foil promo. The Beam Me Up contents also include lands, a box and a Spindown. Those accessories therefore cannot all be counted as additions that justify the premium. Compare the particular art and treatments you prefer, rather than assigning the full value of a box and counter to the upgrade alone[1][2].

What the UK premium actually measures

At the current available floors, the upgrade adds 70.0% to the standard Bundle bill. That is a substantial increase for someone whose main aim is opening Play Boosters. It is easier to defend for a collector who wants both the exclusive promos and a sample of the Collector Booster format. Treat the whole difference as the price of that change in contents, including the Play Booster you give up, rather than dividing the extra spend between only the most attractive items.

There is a tempting shortcut: price the regular Bundle and add a loose Collector Booster. The tracked Star Trek Collector Booster currently has no in-stock or preorder listing. Its out-of-stock asking price does not establish a basket you can order today. The internal product page is the useful place to watch for a buyable comparison[3].

Nor does one Collector Booster establish an expected cash return. Wizards identifies premium treatments and signed Headliner cards in that product line, but a chance at an unusual card is different from a promised result[2]. A sound purchase should remain acceptable after an ordinary opening. If the £35 difference only feels reasonable on the assumption that the Collector Booster will repay it, keep the money and choose the standard Bundle.

Five premium listings are enough to compare, not to rush

Across the filtered Star Trek range, the snapshot contains 15 products with listings, 92 listing rows and 18 retailers. The listing mix is 1 in stock, 41 preorder and 50 out of stock; any remaining rows have unknown status. These are listing counts, not quantities of sealed boxes held in warehouses[3].

On October 29, the premium Bundle has five tracked listings, all marked preorder, spanning £85 to £100. The standard Bundle has twelve rows, eight marked preorder, with its available floor at £49.99. Those observations give buyers a reason to compare sellers before paying the higher advertised prices. They do not establish how many allocations remain, or predict a shortage. Check delivery charges and dispatch terms alongside the item price, especially when the two cheapest boxes come from different shops.

Google Trends data for Great Britain over the three-month window includes the related searches “star trek mtg commander deck list” and “mtg star trek collector booster box”[4]. That is evidence of interest in specific Star Trek product formats. Neither phrase measures demand for Beam Me Up itself. For a Bundle buyer, the useful implication is to distinguish the products carefully: interest in Collector Boosters does not by itself make a mixed premium Bundle good value.

Choose by what you intend to keep

Buy the standard Bundle if you want a contained opening, a storage box and a supply of lands while keeping the initial spend lower. Its extra Play Booster is also a straightforward advantage if that is the pack type you prefer. Neither Bundle is a ready-to-play Commander deck, so a buyer wanting a complete deck for an immediate game should choose the product built for that purpose instead[1].

Choose Beam Me Up if the schematic treatment is a meaningful part of the purchase and you actively want the Collector Booster. Before placing the preorder, ask whether you would pay the displayed difference for those contents without assuming any resale proceeds. At roughly £35 more, the premium box has a coherent collector use case. For everyone primarily buying Play Boosters, the standard Bundle leaves more of the budget intact and answers the simpler need.
